Wheels of Love Now

Updated:  November 30, 2007

Wheels of Love just returned from a six week mission trip to Kenya.  The Lord provided 65 custom built manual wheelchairs and Bibles in KiSwahili.  We expanded our outreach and made many new friends!  Our next goal is to return to Kenya for a 3 month mission trip in June of 2008.  We prayerfully hope to raise funds for 75 wheelchairs.  Please pray in our behalf.

Wheels of Love has some important projects and needs that we request prayer support for, among our current needs are:

  • Funding is needed to build a facility dedicated to training and ministering to the disabled in Kenya.  This is a very serious prayer request, please.  This facility would be used to train disabled high school teens in computer skills to empower them with real-world job skills so that they can support themselves for the rest of their lives.  Other uses for such a facility include holding disability summer camp meetings to encourage, uplift, and inspire the weak and afflicted that we come in contact with as the Lord guides.
  • We need to accelerate our efforts to operate full time in Kenya.  The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints just entered into a contract to build 100 wheelchairs per month in Nairobi.  We need your help to spread the truth of the Gospel message throughout Kenya; of course Wheels of Love is in no way associated with the Mormon church.  Toby and Rick are prepared to pour the remaining years of their lives into the Kenya outreach.  Please pray fervently that God would send us, equip us, and bless our efforts to expand the kingdom.
  • We are getting close to our goal of becoming debt free in our personal lives.  Once this is achieved, we believe that we are called to serve full-time in Kenya.  During the last mission trip in late 2007 we looked at some dwelling units which might cost approximately $450.00 USD per month for rent.  For this special request for prayer, we request our friends and partners to  ask the Lord to provide financial sponsorship which would pay the rent, water, and electricity for such a house for a two-year time period.  We believe that living in Kenya for a two-year term will allow Wheels of Love to minister to hundreds of disabled children and prove that we can be used mightily by the Lord if only given a chance.  The fruitful service that could be accomplished will help establish a track record and provide the ground work to continue and expand outreach opportunities.  Please do join us in consistent prayer asking our Lord to grant WOL this important request.

·         Sponsors are needed for a benefit concert featuring a Dove Award winning artist who has expressed an interest in helping Wheels of Love.

Thank you so much for prayer on the above items.

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.", James 5:16-17 KJV
